Connorco Ltd.

Stirling Fibre has a proven track record for innovation – from introducing paper-bank and kerbside collection to Scotland’s local authorities as early as 1990, to establishing our multi-million pound plastic separation plant Connorco. But without doubt our most groundbreaking project to date is a joint venture that proves waste energy and recycling can work hand in hand.

For years waste energy and recycling have sat separately. Now we’re proving that they can work hand in hand so that everyone wins. Forbes Connor, Managing Director

In 2009 Stirling Fibre partnered with Newcastle waste treatment provider Graphite Resources – owner of one of the largest steam autoclave facilities in the world, with the capacity to handle waste from up to 500,000 households.

By combining Graphite Resources’ steam autoclave facility with Connorco’s patented technology, the joint venture is capable of converting recyclable waste into renewable energy, and producing valuable by-products in the process. By-products such as CellMatt Fibre ® which has a whole range of potential uses: in bio fuels for use in power stations and cars; in bricks and insulation boards within the construction industry; in fuel cell production and soil manufacture; or mixed with other materials to create composite products.

All in all, a significant leap forward and one that proves waste energy and recycling can work hand in hand to the benefit of all.
